Alibaba Group, working with the International Olympic Committee and the Dakar 2026 Organizing Committee, is providing cloud and AI technology for the 2026 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Senegal, the first Olympic event on African soil. A private cloud built on Alibaba Cloud’s Apsara Stack will support core digital operations, including online ticketing, venue access control, and e-visa management. At the opening ceremony, an AI-generated drum performance video created with Alibaba’s WAN model was shown. Visitors at the Olympic Festival can use interactive kiosks to create short videos of themselves playing the traditional Sabar drum and speak with cloud-based AI agents for event information. After the Games, the private cloud infrastructure will be transferred to Senegal as a national cloud platform, giving local businesses and developers access to Alibaba’s full-stack AI capabilities and Qwen open-weight models.
