Amazon CEO Andy Jassy said AWS could become a $1 trillion annual revenue business over time. Speaking on the company's earnings call, he noted the cloud unit already runs at a $169 billion annualised rate and ranks as if it were the 24th-largest company on the Fortune 500. AWS revenue grew 36.7 percent year over year, its fastest pace in 18 quarters, with a backlog of $496 billion showing triple-digit growth. Amazon raised its 2026 cash capital expenditure outlook to roughly $220 billion from about $200 billion, citing higher memory prices and strong demand. Jassy said the company once expected AWS to reach a few hundred billion dollars in revenue and now believes the figure will be at least double that, with the potential to hit $1 trillion and deliver attractive free cash flow and returns. He added that data centres take about two years to begin earning and last more than 30 years, while servers and networking typically break even in under three years.
