Google is implementing an automatic reboot feature through Play Services that will force Android phones to restart after three days of inactivity, even when plugged in. Similar to Apple's Inactivity Reboot, this security measure ensures devices return to a "Before First Unlock" state, where data remains encrypted and only PIN/passcode access is permitted. The update enhances security by preventing phones from remaining indefinitely unencrypted, though it has drawn concerns from law enforcement officials who may face challenges accessing stored devices. The feature will roll out automatically to Google-certified devices in the coming weeks.
