Anthropic Economic Index India Claude usage | Justo Global

India accounts for 5.8 percent of global Claude usage and ranks as the second-largest market for Anthropic's AI, according to the company's latest Economic Index. Adoption remains concentrated: Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka and Delhi together make up more than half of India's Claude activity. India leads the world in the share of AI use devoted to software-related tasks at 45.2 percent. Work-related use stands at 51.3 percent, higher than the global 46 percent average, while coursework accounts for 20.9 percent. Indian users complete tasks in an average of 14.8 minutes that would take 3.8 hours without AI, a 15-times speedup compared with the global 12-times figure. About 84.6 percent of tasks could still be done by a human alone, slightly below the global rate, suggesting users more often bring harder problems to the model. Despite high total volume, India ranks 101st on a per-capita basis, reflecting both population size and narrow geographic concentration.
