Apple and Google have taken action against 20 apps found to carry SparkCat, a data-stealing malware active since March 2024. Discovered by Kaspersky, the malware uses optical character recognition to capture on-screen text, targeting cryptocurrency wallet recovery phrases and personal information from users' devices. The affected apps, primarily downloaded in the UAE and Indonesia, have been removed after the report, with Google ensuring protection against known malware versions. However, Kaspersky warns that the malware may still exist on unofficial platforms.
