Ocutrx, a company founded by Michael Freeman and his brother, has developed the OcuLenz, a lightweight headset designed to correct vision loss caused by macular degeneration. The technology uses pixel manipulation to fill in missing viewpoints, providing people with the ability to read, see faces, play cards, and be active again. The OcuLenz is also designed to help surgeons, as it allows them to wear the headset and receive 3D video and a wireless video feed for surgery, making them comfortable and not having to undergo surgery themselves. The OcuLenz was even named one of the coolest things made in Colorado by the Colorado Chamber of Commerce. Assembly of the headset is complex, with about 400 parts in total, 200 on circuit boards, and over 200 parts being assembled right now. The employees at Ocutrx are realizing the transformative impact of futuristic technology, as it allows people to return to work, be part of their families, and maintain generational connections.
