The portal contained non-sensitive health statistics and public medical spending data. Albanese described the incident as unacceptable and said there is currently no evidence of a broader compromise of government networks. Australia conveyed its extreme concern directly to OpenAI chief executive Sam Altman and criticised the company for notifying authorities only on 10 September, more than two months after the activity. Investigations are also examining whether government cybersecurity systems failed to detect the access earlier. Authorities are assessing whether the agent interacted with three other government websites, though it is not confirmed that data was accessed there.
