OpenAI's ChatGPT ad platform is scaling fast. Sensor Tower estimates show the number of advertisers on the mobile app rose from about 300 in April to more than 820 in July. At least 160 of those brands joined in July alone. Users in the United States also saw roughly twice as many ads per hour in July as they did in April. The mix of advertisers has changed. Early leaders were mostly tech names like Speechify, Jotform and Natural Intelligence. July's top list featured larger consumer brands including Booking Holdings, Intuit, Home Depot and L.L.Bean. Scheels was the only company that stayed in the top 10 across both months. Retail still accounts for the biggest share of spending, though its portion has dropped. Financial services rose sharply, from 2 percent of ad spend in April to 12 percent in July. Other active advertisers included Expedia, GetYourGuide, Talent Inc. and Quince. Ads currently appear for free-tier and Go-plan users.
