An AWS survey of 800 C-suite executives reveals growing cloud adoption among SMBs for efficiency and enhanced experiences. However, cybersecurity neglect is a concern, with over a third not prioritizing security, 2 in 5 lacking training, and uncertainty in managing risks. SMBs invest in tech but often underemphasize cybersecurity. Projected SMB IT spending shows 5.4% YoY growth in 2023 and is expected to reach 8.3% YoY by 2027. Challenges include the impracticality of hiring a CISO or dedicated cloud security team, resulting in understaffed efforts. Nearly half of SMBs faced a cyber incident last year, underscoring the need for improved cybersecurity. Common misconceptions include viewing cloud security as costly and requiring a large team, and the belief that migrated data is less secure. To address this, SMBs turn to third-party vendors, including cloud providers, often post-breach.
