In the span of five years, the University of Rochester School of Nursing underwent a transformative shift from traditional learning methods to an immersive tablet-driven educational model. The Redefining Our Classroom Initiative introduced iPads for students, offering a range of interactive and collaborative tools. The program reported a 50% surge in enrollment by mid-2023, defying the trend of declining enrollments during the pandemic. Leveraging technology, the healthcare industry addressed challenges like administrative burnout and clinician shortages, leading to a renewed interest in healthcare careers. The initiative aimed to develop practice-ready nurses through an online RN to BSN degree program, accelerated courses, and master's level courses. It integrated technology, including virtual reality, and adapted to pandemic challenges using SimulationiQ software for debriefings, faculty evaluations, and real-time student progress feedback.
