A recent study by Hastha Kalalu has revealed the District of Columbia leads the nation in small business employment, with nearly half (48%) of its workforce employed in small businesses. The District of Columbia scored 69.4, the highest among all states and territories, boasting 1,113 small businesses per 10,000 residents. Wyoming ranked second with a score of 66.9, thanks to its 1,250 small businesses per 10,000 residents—the second highest rate in the study.
