FAMU-FSU College of Engineering creates new wearable technology

FAMU-FSU College of Engineering researchers have made strides in wearable health technology, developing soft, stretchable electronic components that enhance accuracy and user comfort. Their published study in the American Chemical Society's journal showcases a pliable photodiode that securely adheres to the skin, enabling more precise cardiovascular monitoring than traditional rigid components. This innovation has significant implications, potentially improving the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases and facilitating accessible at-home testing, ultimately easing the strain on global healthcare systems. The interdisciplinary team includes researchers from various institutions, highlighting the collaborative effort in advancing healthcare technology. Funding from the National Institutes of Health, the National Science Foundation, the National High Magnetic Field Lab, the State of Florida, and the U.S. DOE Office of Science Facilities at Brookhaven National Lab supports this research.
