FBI: China Cyberattacks on US Infrastructure Reach New Level

The Chinese government's attempts to attack US infrastructure have reached new levels, according to FBI Director Christopher Wray. Wray cited Volt Typhoon, a Chinese hacking network that was found dormant inside US critical infrastructure, as one of many such attempts by the Chinese. China is increasingly incorporating offensive weapons into critical infrastructure. OpenAI and Microsoft have disrupted attempts by state-sponsored hackers from China and four other countries who attempted to use OpenAI's AI technology for malicious purposes. OpenAI is taking a multipronged approach to combating malicious state-affiliate actors' use of its platform. A recent study by PYMNTS Intelligence found that 40% of consumers want greater data protection when transacting online, indicating a heightened awareness of the risks associated with online transactions and the importance of safeguarding personal information.
