The Federal Bureau Of Investigation (FBI) is concerned about China stealing artificial intelligence technology to carry out massive cyberattacks worldwide. This comes days after US government officials warned that the Chinese military was behind infiltration of critical infrastructure, including power and water utilities and transportation systems. According to reports, China's plans on using corporate espionage to steal AI technology from the firms developing it. In 2018, former Apple employee Xiaolang Zhang was arrested for trying to board a flight to Beijing with stolen self-driving vehicle trade secrets. He pleaded guilty to stealing trade secrets and will be sentenced in February. Last year, US corporation Applied Materials sued Chinese company Mattson Technology claiming a defecting engineer stole trade secrets. No charges were filed.
