Fujitsu is partnering with Nvidia and three major Japanese robot makers—FANUC, Yaskawa Electric and Kawasaki Heavy Industries—to speed up real-world use of physical AI in manufacturing. Physical AI lets robots understand the physical world, decide the best actions on their own, and carry them out. Fujitsu is building software and hardware interfaces that will act as a common platform connecting AI with automation systems. FANUC has already shown an open-platform physical AI system that can take spoken instructions and handle parts kitting with AI agents. The companies aim to link robots, equipment, people and business applications across the factory floor. The goal is to optimize the full manufacturing cycle from planning and production to quality control and maintenance. Fujitsu will use Nvidia’s physical AI technologies to create a sovereign collaborative control platform. Early implementation is planned at a Fujitsu factory later this year.
