Starting March 1, 2026, Google Play will implement a system to flag Android apps that excessively drain battery life. Apps that keep devices awake for over two hours during at least 5% of user sessions will be classified as “excessive.” Developers will be notified to rectify the issue, or risk reduced visibility on the Play Store, including warning labels. This initiative aims to enhance user experience by promoting efficient Android usage.
