India has begun to develop its very own artificial intelligence (AI) chip to replace Nvidia’s powerful processors, which have shaken up the tech landscape globally. The government has planned to tentatively make the chips at a domestic chip fabrication plant by 2027. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has partnered with the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) and the National e-Governance Division to design the chip from the ground up.
