While most industries in Chennai resumed operations on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, the MSME sector and companies in flood-affected areas continued to face challenges. The Ambattur Industrial Estate's North phase and Villivakam Industrial Estate still had flooded areas, affecting manufacturing units. Thirumazhisai Industrial Estate, a significant contributor to automobile majors, also faced water issues. The Tamil Nadu Small and Tiny Industries Association estimated a year for MSMEs to recover from losses caused by torrential rains and Cyclone Michaung, requesting government assistance. Some automobile firms, like Hyundai Motor India, resumed operations, offering support for cyclone-affected vehicles. TTK Healthcare Limited reported a flooded and waterlogged manufacturing facility in Ambattur, disrupting production activities since December 5. The company is assessing the situation and taking necessary actions.
