Meta Platforms announced a $14.8 billion investment for a 49% stake in Scale AI, in its biggest external funding to date. The investment values Scale AI at $25 billion. CEO Alexandr Wang is set to join Meta in a senior role, leading a new AI lab. The move places Meta as a serious contender in AI, alongside Amazon, Microsoft and Google, who have also invested billions in AI startups. Scale AI generated roughly $870 million in revenue last year and expects to exceed $2 billion in 2025.
