Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates has released the company's original source code, written by Paul Allen and published in a 157-page PDF. The code was inspired by a 1975 issue of Popular Electronics featuring an Altair 8800, which Gates and Allen believed was the beginning of the PC revolution. They created a BASIC interpreter to translate the code into BASIC, and Allen wrote a program to simulate the Altair on the PDP-10. The code remains the coolest code Gates has written to this day.
