Microsoft has released a set of Microsoft Fabric updates aimed at supporting agentic AI transformation. The announcements were made at the European Microsoft Fabric + SQL Community Conference in Barcelona. Fabric Apps, built on the Rayfin open-source SDK, lets organizations develop AI-powered applications directly on governed data inside Fabric. Apps can include web pages, business processes and functions and run fully hosted and managed without containers. New agentic data engineering features, stemming from the Osmos acquisition, allow engineers to define an outcome and boundaries so an agent can execute, validate and refine complex data work. Observability in Fabric adds a Monitor Hub for unified views across jobs, capacities and workloads, with operations agents that help investigate issues and automate responses. Database Hub, now in public preview, provides a central control plane for SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL, Cosmos DB and Fabric SQL databases.
