Microsoft is retiring its peer feedback tool called Perspectives. The platform has been in use since 2018. Employees could request input from colleagues, and both the employee and their manager could see the responses. An internal message viewed by Business Insider says new feedback requests are no longer accepted. Staff can still reply to open requests and export their history until September 15. The company says feedback works better in regular, in-the-moment talks than through formal requests. The change is part of a larger performance review overhaul. Microsoft is simplifying ratings into five categories and making performance differences clearer. Managers have also been told to reduce the number of people in higher-level engineering roles as the company continues to flatten its structure. The tool will not be replaced by another software platform. Peer discussions are expected to continue informally instead.
