Electricity Minister Thangam Thennarsu has extended the relaxation for electricity bill payments to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) affected by Cyclone Michaung. Tangedco initially allowed payments due between December 4 and 7 to be made by December 18 without penalties, with excess amounts adjusted in the next billing cycle. Minister Thennarasu clarified that this relief would also apply to the MSME sector impacted by the cyclone. The T Nagar Residents Welfare Association requested Tangedco to extend the electricity bill payment deadline for consumers until January 2024, considering the ongoing challenges in returning to normal life after the cyclone. Former Tamil Nadu CM O Panneerselvam Panneerselvam highlighted Cyclone Michaung's distress in Tamil Nadu, causing inundated areas, power outages, and financial burdens. The state's increasing frequency of cyclones highlights its vulnerability to cyclones.
