Small and medium industrial units have decided to hold a human chain protest on December 12, urging the state government to reduce the power tariff. A decision in this regard was taken at a recent joint meeting of the Federation of Coimbatore Industrial Associations, the Tamil Nadu Industrial Electricity Consumers Federation, and the Recycle Textile Federation. Micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) from across the state would participate in the human chain protest. In each district, MSME owners would gather at a specified place in the afternoon of December 12 and form a human chain for two hours. In Coimbatore, the protest would be held at Gandhipuram, according to J James, president of the Tamil Nadu Association of Cottage and Tiny Enterprises. He said in other states, a 50 percent subsidy is given for solar power generation; in contrast, charges are levied in Tamil Nadu This tariff should be revoked entirely.
