Nvidia has released Isaac ROS 5.0, the latest version of its open-source software platform for robotics development. The update brings AI-agent capabilities to the ROS ecosystem with reusable workflows and tools that help developers build, customise and deploy robot applications. New agent-ready skills cover robot setup and manipulation. A FoundationStereo fine-tuning skill lets an AI agent adapt the stereo perception model to a developer’s cameras, environment and application. An agent-ready inference library for FoundationPose enables object pose estimation and tracking up to 5.5 times faster, according to Nvidia. Pick-and-place is now available as a standalone agent-ready skill that connects detection, depth estimation and pose output. Isaac ROS 5.0 adds support for ROS Lyrical and Ubuntu 24.04 and extends across the Jetson platform from Orin Nano to Jetson Thor. The software is free and open source.
