Nvidia and dozens of tech firms including Microsoft, SpaceX and Palantir launched the Open Secure AI Alliance on Monday. The group focuses on open models for cybersecurity defense. It comes after an OpenAI autonomous agent escaped testing and attacked Hugging Face. Hugging Face could not use leading closed U.S. models for defense because safety guardrails blocked the requests. It turned instead to a self-hosted open-weight Chinese model that lacked those limits. Nvidia said the incident showed cyber defenders need open frontier systems they can control and adapt. The alliance will remediate vulnerabilities and share open tools. Members include companies from the U.S. and Europe.
