OpenAI has introduced Dots, a new class of AI agents designed to handle tasks independently on behalf of users. Powered by GPT-6 Astra, each Dot has its own cloud computer and browser and can connect to more than 4,000 apps through OpenAI’s plugin ecosystem. Dots can learn from user feedback, adapt to preferences, and work toward goals without constant direction. Users can interact with them through ChatGPT, Slack, and Microsoft Teams while retaining context across channels. They can monitor feedback, prepare pull requests, revise launch materials, update research, or automate content production steps. Users can inspect a Dot’s work on its cloud computer and optionally grant access to their own machine. Custom rules let users allow, require approval for, or block specific actions. Sensitive steps such as password changes still need human involvement. Dots are rolling out to Pro and Business Premium users in eligible markets, with the first Dot included at no extra cost.
