Peraton Labs to help develop artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning for unmanned ground vehicles

The U.S. Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA) has awarded a $9.3 million contract to Peraton Labs for the Learning Introspective Control (LINC) project. LINC aims to develop AI and machine learning technologies for military systems to adapt to unforeseen conditions. Peraton Labs will create systems that enable military platforms like ground vehicles, ships, drone swarms, and robots to analyze their decision-making processes in real time. LINC-equipped platforms will use machine learning and introspection to update control laws, ensuring stability and control in response to unexpected events or modifications. The focus includes learning control through onboard sensors and actuators and communicating situational awareness to operators. The program aims to establish an open-standards-based, plug-and-play architecture for interoperability and rapid adaptation.
