Reddit is implementing restrictions on the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine due to unauthorized scraping by AI companies. Starting today, the Wayback Machine will only be able to archive Reddit's homepage, limiting access to deeper content like posts and comments. Spokesperson Tim Rathschmidt stated, “We’ve been made aware of instances where AI companies violate platform policies.” This move follows Reddit's broader strategy to monetize its data and protect user privacy.
