India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) and Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) inked an MoU on October 11, 2023, to extend formal financial services to MSMEs in rural and remote areas. The collaboration intends to combine IPPB's rural reach and SIDBI's credit models to aid informal and micro enterprises within the regulatory framework. IPPB will assist SIDBI's clients in digitizing payment systems using UPI and QR solutions. They plan to upgrade the skills of Dak Sevaks and explore other joint initiatives supporting the MSME ecosystem, emphasizing rural micro-enterprises. The partnership is expected to bolster financial inclusion and promote rural livelihood enterprises, as highlighted during the MoU signing event. Both parties expressed optimism about the positive impact on millions of rural enterprises, aiming to enhance their access to financial services and literacy.
