STMicroelectronics has introduced a new Human Presence Detection (HPD) technology for laptops, PCs, monitors, and accessories. The technology combines FlightSense Time-of-Flight sensors with AI algorithms for fast Windows Hello authentication, longer battery life, and user-privacy notifications. The solution is designed to make devices more energy-efficient, secure, and user-friendly. The 5th generation of sensors also includes advanced features like gesture recognition, hand posture recognition, and wellness monitoring. The HPD solution also includes adaptive screen dimming, walk-away lock & wake-on-attention, and multi-person detection. The solution requires no additional development for OEMs.
