US Air Force uses VR headsets for airmen training

The introduction of VR maintenance training for the MC-130J Commando II aircraft promises significant benefits for the 193rd Special Operations Maintenance Group. Spearheaded by Technical Sgt. Anthony Gambone, the program allows airmen to train on avionics and crew chief tasks, enhancing their proficiency and confidence. Col. Jaime Ramirez highlights cost savings, time efficiency, and heightened safety as key advantages. With VR, airmen can train anytime without relying on aircraft availability, reducing maintenance times and improving readiness. Gambone envisions expanding the program to include other military aircraft, potentially benefiting the entire Department of Defense. Currently operational, the VR program can train seven airmen simultaneously, with plans to integrate it across the maintenance group. Ramirez emphasizes the synergy between skilled personnel and cutting-edge technology.
