Google has removed 77 malicious apps from its Play Store, which were downloaded over 19 million times, exposing users to serious malware threats, including the Anatsa banking Trojan targeting 800 global financial institutions. These apps masqueraded as useful tools, acting as “droppers” to deliver harmful payloads post-installation. Google’s Play Protect warns users of these threats; however, manual uninstallation is essential. This crackdown is part of a broader initiative to enhance mobile security amid rising cyber risks.
