Wipro is expanding its TimeScope platform across more of its India workforce. The tool runs on company-issued laptops and desktops. It shows employees and managers dashboards of digital activity. This includes login duration and time spent on work apps such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Chrome. Inactive periods are also logged. The company first put it on about 5,000 employees in May. It is now moving to fixed-price project teams, billable roles, support staff and people not assigned to projects. Wipro says the system does not track personal activity, keystrokes or screen content. Timesheets stay the official record for project effort. On attendance, leave may be deducted if a scheduled work day shows no device activity, no approved leave, no office swipe and no client site record. Workers can challenge any deduction they think is wrong. The move sits inside a wider industry focus on productivity as firms face margin pressure and push AI-led efficiency.
