A Pittsburgh-based firm, RoboParty, has unveiled RP1 (ROBOTO 01), which it positions as the world’s first high-performance full-stack open-source bipedal humanoid robot. The robot made its global debut at IROS 2026. RP1 is designed for researchers, educators, robotics developers, and embodied AI teams so they can use, modify, train, and extend the system in real development workflows. At the company’s booth, a “Kick Me” demonstration let visitors push or kick the robot; RP1 adjusted its posture and recovered balance under external disturbances. The platform delivers peak joint torque of up to 160 N•m and uses in-house Romomo actuator modules and a real-time motion-control system. Dynamic motion and recovery capabilities are supported by PartyOS, RoboParty’s open R&D foundation that integrates the UFO framework. The project builds on RPO, the company’s earlier fully open-source bipedal humanoid effort.
