Amazon Web Services (AWS) has released a report indicating that small businesses embracing cloud technologies in India could unlock annual productivity gains of up to ₹1.6 trillion and support 45.9 million jobs by 2030, contributing 9% of total jobs in the country. The report, conducted by Accenture, notes that India's current cloud adoption rate is at 28%, with potential benefits in sectors like healthcare, agriculture, and education. For example, cloud-enabled small businesses could facilitate remote medical consultations, improve access to education, and enhance precision agriculture. However, barriers to cloud adoption include cybersecurity challenges and a lack of digital skills. To accelerate adoption, the report suggests identifying how the cloud can streamline business needs, evaluating industry and government support, upskilling employees, reviewing data and security policies, and creating a comprehensive cloud migration strategy.
