Anthropic has launched in-country inference for its Claude AI models in India through Amazon Bedrock. This lets enterprises process AI requests on local servers. Banks, insurers, telecom firms and government agencies can now keep sensitive data inside India while using the models. The company said the step addresses a key barrier to wider adoption in regulated sectors. Irina Ghose, Anthropic's managing director for India, called it a turning point that moves AI from pilots into core systems. AWS India president Sandeep Dutta said organisations can run frontier AI on the same infrastructure they already trust. Several Indian firms already use Claude, including Axis Bank, NPCI, IndusInd Bank and Godrej Industries. IT services companies such as TCS, Infosys and Cognizant are also integrating the models. Anthropic opened its Bengaluru office earlier this year and continues to expand its local team and partner programmes.
