AWS has open-sourced Kiro Crew, an orchestration platform that turns AI coding agents into persistent engineering teams. The tool coordinates multiple agents across long-running workflows that span sessions. It keeps project memory, schedules recurring work, connects to developer tools, checks pull requests, triages tickets and investigates incidents. AWS also released reference apps built on it, including DevFleets for worktree management, Issue Radar for issue and pull request triage, and Task Runner for longer engineering jobs. Organisations can run it on their own infrastructure. That keeps code, credentials and AI workflows inside their own systems for better control. It supports open standards such as Agent Client Protocol and Model Context Protocol. The first release still relies on AWS’s Kiro CLI, so other agents may need custom connectors. The project began as an internal effort called MeshClaw and was used by more than 39,000 Amazon builders.
