INTERPOL, on its 100th anniversary, has launched an enhanced BioHub powered by IDEMIA's advanced multibiometric identification system (MBIS). The MBIS 5 offers higher matching accuracy, quicker response times, and a user-friendly interface. Operational since October 2023, it aims to improve the identification of Persons of Interest (POIs) in police investigations. The second phase will extend its application to border control points, performing up to 1 million daily forensic searches. IDEMIA's expertise in biometric technology positions it as a leader, covering iris, fingerprint, and face recognition. The BioHub's recent success includes identifying a wanted migrant smuggler in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The system consolidates INTERPOL's fingerprint and facial recognition databases, enhancing border screenings and police operations globally. It adheres to data protection frameworks, respecting privacy and integrity.
