A collaborative study by researchers in mainland China, Hong Kong, and Australia has revealed that scientists have discovered novel virus species at an unparalleled speed using data previously submitted to databases thanks to an artificial intelligence application. The group reported finding almost 162,000 new RNA virus species in various settings, such as the atmosphere, hot springs, and hydrothermal vents.
