The Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, is taking a major step to empower micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and enhance E-commerce exports. In a groundbreaking collaboration, DGFT has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Amazon India, marking the first of many such partnerships with various e-commerce platforms. The initiative, in line with the Foreign Trade Policy 2023's Districts as Export Hubs strategy, aims to connect local producers with global supply chains through Amazon's co-created capacity-building sessions and workshops. The MOU signed with key officials aims to use e-commerce platforms to support local exporters, aligning with India's Foreign Trade Policy's goal of increasing exports. The collaboration with Amazon India covers 20 districts, with discussions for similar partnerships with other platforms.
