Cybersecurity Spending Expected to be Slashed in 41% of SMEs

JumpCloud's research reveals that 41% of SMEs plan to reduce cybersecurity spending, with India experiencing the highest cuts (58%), followed by the US (40%) and the UK (25%). Despite security being a top IT concern (56%), budget cuts raise organizational risk according to 72% of IT admins. Concerns over cybersecurity have increased in the past six months for 56% of respondents. Network attacks (40%), software vulnerabilities (34%), and ransomware (29%) are the top threats. Biometric authentication is on the rise (66%), driven by security benefits. However, 83% still rely on password-only authentication despite its inadequacy. Balancing security and convenience is a challenge, with 67% noting additional security measures create a cumbersome experience. UK SMEs lag behind the US and India in cybersecurity preparedness, including training (62%), IT security staffing (78%), financial readiness (65%), and cybersecurity planning (72%).
