Dubai has reinvented its Create Apps Championship as the Create AI Agents Championship, a global contest to build systems that carry out tasks and make decisions on their own rather than simply answering questions. Crown Prince Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum announced the change on 7 October while honoring this year’s winners, stating the aim of making Dubai the first city to lead innovation in the field. The original competition, launched in 2023, has attracted 15,564 applications from 153 countries, produced 1,700 prototypes, and more than 140 live apps, with this year’s 9,754 entries exceeding the first two editions combined. Entrants must identify a real problem, build and test an AI agent, and show business potential across societal, personal, business, and youth categories. Category winners each receive about €128,000, with one named AI Agent of the Year and awarded roughly €232,000. There is no minimum age, and coding is not required.
