The Indian Council for Research on International Economic Relations (ICRIER) survey found that integrating with e-commerce platforms is crucial for MSME growth. Of 2,007 enterprises surveyed, 1,005 were combined and making progress, while 1,002 were not, facing market access challenges. Non-integrated firms cited reasons such as a need for knowledge about digital technologies and e-commerce platforms and internal capabilities that determine the benefits of integration. Bridging the gap between integrated and non-integrated firms will require investments in technology, digital skills, information, and complementary factors. E-commerce integration boosted sales and profits for 85% of MSMEs, most achieving over Rs 5 million in turnover. This highlights the importance of digital marketplaces for MSME growth and calls for support for non-integrated firms to join.
