Elon Musk has suggested that users of the social media platform X (formerly Twitter) may have to pay for access to counter bots. Musk mentioned a small monthly payment as the potential solution to combat bots during a conversation with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. While X Premium, an enhanced paid service, already exists, users can still access X for free. Although there is a clear financial interest for the company to charge users, Mr Musk insisted that getting people to pay for the service is aimed at tackling bots. Musk believes charging for access would deter bots since the cost would be higher. He mentioned plans for a lower-tier pricing option. However, this move could potentially lead to a loss of users and a decline in advertising revenue. Musk also discussed combating antisemitism on X and expressed his commitment to addressing the issue.
