German Manufacturer Invests $5.6M in Virginia Beach Expansion

Hermes Abrasives USA, a global leader in providing abrasive materials for production finishing, is set to invest $5.6 million to expand its Virginia Beach facility and create 30 new jobs. The expansion includes integrating narrow belt production lines to enhance capabilities, a move detailed by Gov. Glenn Youngkin. These production lines were previously relocated to Mexico in 2019 but will now return to the Virginia Beach facility. President of Hermes' North American operations, Brad Sorgen expressed the company's pride in calling Southeastern Virginia home for over 40 years and its excitement for future expansion and development over the next five years. The Virginia Beach Development Authority has approved a $100,000 grant to support this project. Established in 1981, the Virginia Beach facility manufactures 60% of the company's product portfolio and serves as the flagship facility for industrial-scale sandpaper used in automotive and woodworking industries.
