Google Cloud and Accenture have formed a joint unit called the Accenture Gemini Enterprise Business Group. The group will send engineers into companies to help them adopt Google’s AI tools and services. Google will train up to 1,000 of Accenture’s forward-deployed engineers to build custom AI applications on the Gemini Enterprise platform. The organisation will sit under Accenture. The move is Google’s latest step into the competitive field of forward-deployed engineers, or FDEs. Rivals including OpenAI, Anthropic, Microsoft and Amazon have all launched similar units this year, betting that implementing AI can become a major business. Google Cloud reported $24.8 billion in second-quarter revenue, much of it tied to enterprise AI, yet parent company Alphabet faces huge purchase commitments. August data from Ramp showed Google at about 6 percent of enterprise AI spending among its U.S. customers, far behind Anthropic and OpenAI.
