Multiple Google Cloud services experienced elevated errors and intermittent network failures in the London-based europe-west2 region on Tuesday, disrupting banks, financial firms, and public service providers. Google said the issues began just after 7 a.m. local time and later attributed the outage in part of the region to a power event in the europe-west2-b zone, which it said had been mitigated. Recovery of existing workloads was prioritized. British digital bank Revolut reported a related service disruption affecting card payments, ATM withdrawals, balance top-ups, and currency exchange, while stating that customers’ money and data remained safe. User reports and company statements also pointed to problems at Lloyds, Halifax, HSBC, Bank of Scotland, and others, as well as parcel and property services and some public-sector systems, including court video links. Other European Google Cloud regions did not report the same issues.
