Google upgraded NotebookLM with a new feature called Short Video Overviews. It turns lengthy research documents into short 60-second explainer videos. The tool is available for Google AI Ultra and Pro subscribers. Users upload sources to a notebook. Then they select Video from the Studio column, choose Short, pick or enter a topic, and generate. It produces vertical AI clips. The feature runs on Google's Nano Banana 2 Lite engine, also known as Gemini 3.1 Flash-Lite Image. This model generates images quickly in about four seconds and offers better visual quality. NotebookLM remains English-only for this video feature. Free user support is coming later. Google also put Gemini Omni Flash into public preview for fuller video generation with conversational editing. This pairs with the NotebookLM update for end-to-end multimedia. Small teams can now quickly create video summaries from reports or papers without manual editing.
