The recent Nobel Prize (from the Nobel Foundation) in Chemistry given to Demis Hassabis and John Jumper for AlphaFold's work on protein structure prediction provides evidence that artificial intelligence (AI) can lead to amazing discoveries for researchers. AlphaFold has already helped more than 2 million researchers in 190 countries fight a deadly parasite disease, speed up the fight against malaria, and develop novel medicines for Parkinson's disease.
